Description

Assassin’s Quest by Robin Hobb is actually the third and final book in The Farseer Trilogy, not the first (that honor belongs to Assassin’s Apprentice). Published in 1997, this epic fantasy novel delivers a massive, emotionally wrenching conclusion to FitzChivalry Farseer’s initial journey. Here is a breakdown of the novel’s strengths, weaknesses, and overall impact.

Picking up immediately after the devastating events of Royal Assassin, Fitz is broken, traumatized, and deeply bonded with his Wit-partner, the wolf Nighteyes. While Regal usurps the throne and devastates the Six Duchies, Fitz undertakes a solo, near-suicidal mission of vengeance. This evolves into a grueling quest across the Mountain Kingdom to find King Verity, who is searching for the mythical Elderlings to save their kingdom.
